You unlock the Future by collecting Time Crystals scattered throughout different biomes. Once you have enough, head to the Time Altar and voila!
Just find the Time Traveler NPC, complete his series of quests, and you'll get access to Future in no time. Simple as that!
Tbh, just buy the Future Expansion Pack in the in-game store. It's the quickest way if you don't mind spending a bit.
