To get into the armory in Fallout 4, you gotta impress the locals first! Join the Minutemen and help them reclaim the Castle. Once you've done that, you'll undertake the 'Old Guns' quest. During this quest, you'll meet Ronnie Shaw at the Castle. She'll guide you to the armory's location, but here's the kicker: you need to access the Castle's tunnels to clear a path. After battling your way through some rubble (and likely some mirelurks), you'll use the workshop to clear the debris blocking the armory door. Voila! Access granted.

Just look for Ronnie Shaw when you're at the Castle, she鈥檚 your golden ticket to the armory. No Ronnie, no armory. Simple.

Most direct way? 'Old Guns' quest at the Castle, full stop. Don't bother looking for shortcuts; there aren't any.
