Just hit level 6 Intelligence and grab the perk. Remember, no science exams required, just good old apocalypse survival skills and a love for the periodic table!
To unlock Rank 1 Science in Fallout 4, you just need to make your character smart enough! Get your character's Intelligence to at least level 6, and you'll be able to select the Science perk from the Perk Chart next time you level up. Think of it as studying really hard in the wasteland.
