Unfortunately, there's no built-in feature to completely disable Stories on Facebook. Best bet is to try browser extensions that let you customize your Facebook experience.
You can't really remove Stories completely, but you can hide them from individual users by clicking the three dots next to a Story and selecting 'Hide Story.'
I've been dealing with this too! What I do is switch to the desktop version on my browser, since it doesn't show Stories as prominently.
