Just fly around and challenge everyone you see. Some characters will ask to join after getting a good whooping in battle.
First, beat them in battle! After you win, there's a chance they'll ask to join you. Just think of it as a friendly recruitment drive - Dragon Ball style!
Honestly, just keep battling random foes. Eventually, someone will offer to join up. It's like Pok茅mon, but with more yelling!
