You gotta complete the single-player campaign mode, Octo Canyon, and defeat all the bosses with the default Hero weapon. Then, Sheldon will sell you the Hero Shot for multiplayer battles! Happy splatting!

Finish all the Octo Canyon missions and bosses with the Hero Shot, then unlock it for multiplayer. It's a grind but worth it!
