I've gotten the War myself by repeatedly taking down the Shadow Stalker. It's mostly about patience and a bit of luck, but totally worth it!

Basically, farm the Shadow Stalker. Once you defeat him, he has a chance to drop the Broken War sword. Craft that and eventually, you can upgrade it to the full War.
