Lure King Bob-omb to the top of the mountain and beat him. He’s the first boss battle and winning gives you the third star.

You can get the third star in Super Mario 64 by completing the 'Shoot to the Island in the Sky' mission in Bob-omb Battlefield. Just unlock the cannon by talking to the pink Bob-omb buddy and blast yourself to the floating island. Trust me, you’ll feel like a skydiving plumber!

In Bob-omb Battlefield, talk to the pink Bob-omb to open the cannon, and shoot yourself onto the floating island to grab the star. Remember to aim carefully!

Honestly, you get it by shooting to the floating island in Bob-omb Battlefield. Just aim for the tree!
