The quickest route is through the Lost River, entering either from the Blood Kelp Zone or the Deep Grand Reef. Just keep an eye out for the Ghastly Ghost Leviathans while you're there!

Blast through the Lost River until you hit the bonefields. Follow the molten magic and you'll be swimming in lava in no time.

To get to the Inactive Lava Zone, head to the Lost River, then follow the giant skeletons to the lava zones. Make sure you pack a Cyclops and a Prawn Suit because things heat up down there!

Honestly, just keep diving deep. You'll know it when you feel it. Lava's hard to miss.

I found it easiest by entering the Lost River from the Blood Kelp Trench. Just keep diving deeper, and the environment will start to look really... fiery. Enjoy the challenge!
