Unfortunately, Instagram doesn't have a feature to hide mutual friends. Your best bet is to make your profile private or block specific users.
Made my profile private last year. Helps reduce unwanted attention but doesn't hide mutual friends.
Just can't hide mutual friends on Insta. Sorry! Maybe suggest it to their support though?
