To hide your friends list on Facebook, go to your profile, click on 'Friends' under your cover photo, then tap the pen icon to edit privacy settings. Choose 'Only Me' to keep it private.
I've done this myself: just click 'Friends' on your profile, then the pencil icon, and change the setting to 'Only Me'. Now it's super private.
