Go to Settings -> Privacy -> Limit who can see your future posts and past posts to only your friends or just yourself.
I made my profile invisible by setting all privacy options to 'Only Me'. Works like a charm!
You can't completely hide your profile, but tweaking your privacy settings to the max makes you practically invisible.
