To invite a friend in State of Decay 2 on PC, first make sure you're online. Then, open your in-game menu, go to the multiplayer section, and invite your friend from there. Make sure they accept your invite in their game to join your session!
Just head to the multiplayer menu, select your friend from your friends list, and send an invite. Easy peasy!
From personal experience, I usually just go to the multiplayer tab and invite my friends directly from my Steam or Xbox Live friends list. Works like a charm!
