You can join a friend by ensuring both of you are online and in the same Xbox party. Then, find their game in the multiplayer menu and select 'Join Game.' Easy peasy!
From the main menu, go into the multiplayer options and invite your friend from your in-game friends list. It's a blast to team up and fight off hordes together!
Hate to break it to ya, but multiplayer is only available if you both have the same DLCs. Check that first or you might be left out.
