Honestly, the Pillars are overhyped. Get decent armor, buff up with potions, and keep moving. Dodge, hit, and run. Easy.
The real trick to beating the pillars isn't what you fight with, but how you fight. Keep your eyes on the prize, dodge like your life depends on it (because it does), and take out the minions first to drop the Pillars' shields. Then, go all in. Also, setting your spawn point nearby so you can jump back into action helps a ton!
