From personal experience, if their profile photo suddenly disappears, it's a good sign you've been blocked. Bummer, right?
Another way to tell is that your messages will only show one checkmark (sent) and never show a second checkmark (delivered).
You could try adding them to a group chat. If WhatsApp says “Couldn't add contact,” you're blocked for sure!
