Just hit 5! That lets you leave your Warframe and control your Operator. Easy peasy!
You need to equip the 'Operator' mode! Press 5 on your keyboard or the corresponding button on your console to switch out of your Warframe.
As soon as I figured out you could hit 5 to leave the Warframe, missions got a whole lot more interesting. Give it a try!
Honestly, just stay in your Warframe and don't bother. Your Operator is squishier than a marshmallow in a microwave.
