How to Make a Funko Pop from Scratch
HatchellingCalm·8 months agoMaking a Funko Pop from scratch isn't for the faint of heart, but it's totally doable if you're crafty! First, you'll need some modeling clay or polymer clay to sculpt your figure. Start with the head - those iconic big round eyes and that distinctive oversized shape are key. Then, work on the body, keeping it simple and recognizable. After you’ve sculpted your masterpiece, bake it (if using polymer clay) following the clay's instructions. Once it's cool, paint your figure with acrylics to bring your character to life. Seal it with a clear coat to protect your work. Voila, your very own custom Funko Pop!

As someone who's tried this, remember to keep proportions in mind! Funko Pops have a very specific look - big heads, small bodies. I spent hours on mine, and getting the head size right was the trickiest part. Also, mixing the perfect paint colors was super fun but took some trial and error. Totally worth it for my one-of-a-kind shelf buddy!
