Easiest way to create an upstairs room is by using the Build Mode! Click 'Build' then 'Build a Floor' and place it above your existing room.

Get into Build Mode, select 'Floors', then click where you want your new floor to be. You might also need some stairs to get up there!

Build Mode -> Floors -> Click above your first floor. Done.

Just go to build mode, choose 'second floor' option, build walls and floor, and add stairs. Piece of cake!
