Lower your in-game graphic settings! Go to Settings > Video, and tweak things like Shadows, Textures, and Effects to low or medium. Your game will thank you!
Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed. Nothing like a good ol' driver update to make things smoother!
Try switching to a wired internet connection if you're using Wi-Fi. It can make a big difference.
