Just throw it in the sandbox and let nature do its work. A few weeks outside and you'll get that authentic aged patina without lifting a brush!

Start by lightly sanding down the truck to get rid of the glossy finish. This helps the paint stick better. Next, use a mix of light brown, orange, and dark brown acrylic paint to dab on that rusty, old look. Remember, less is more. You want it to look naturally worn, not overly done. Finish it off by lightly dry brushing some silver on edges and raised areas to mimic worn paint. Seal it with a matte finish to keep everything in place!

For a real hands-on look, use a small piece of steel wool or a toothbrush dipped in paint thinner to gently wear away at the paint in areas that would naturally show age. Then apply your rust effect sparingly. It's all about the subtle touches to make it look realistically weathered.
