Upgrade your graphics card drivers, tweak the in-game graphics settings to lower options, and close background programs hogging your PC's resources. Trust me, I tried this before diving with a Reaper Leviathan on my tail, and it worked wonders!
You could always play on a different platform with better hardware support, like a beefy PC instead of a console.
