Unfortunately, you can't message someone directly in Trivia Crack 2 unless you're in the middle of a game with them.
I messaged my friend by starting a game with them and then tapping the chat icon that appeared - worked like a charm!
In Trivia Crack 2, you can only message someone if you're actively playing a game with them. Just look for the chat icon during the game!
