For those wanting to dive deep, you can also open the Steam console by using a shortcut. Right-click on your Steam shortcut, go to Properties, and in the Target field, add '-console' after the quotation marks. Next time you start Steam with this shortcut, the console will pop up automatically. I did this for dev work, and it's a game-changer.
