Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Just pause the game and navigate to the 'Multiplayer' menu. From there, you'll see an option for 'Split Screen.' Select it, and the second player can join the race by pressing a button on their controller. Make sure you've got a second controller connected, or it's a no-go.
I had my buddy over last weekend and we figured it out after some trial and error. Once you get to the split screen part, it's actually a blast. Racing against each other on those insane tracks brings back some serious childhood nostalgia.
