First, pair the Joy-Con with the Switch. Then in the game, go to controller settings, select 'Change Grip/Order,' and make sure it recognizes the Joy-Con held horizontally. You're all set!

Press the little sync button on the Joy-Con until it pairs. Use the joystick to navigate, and the SL/SR buttons act as L/R buttons.
