From personal experience, I can tell you that you'll need Xbox Remote Play to stream your Series S games to your laptop. Plugging in with HDMI just won't work.

Laptops have HDMI out, not HDMI in, so you can't directly connect your Xbox Series S to your laptop via HDMI. Use Xbox Remote Play instead!
