So, you wanna be a Hot Wheels custom guru, huh? First things first, gotta tackle those pesky rivets. You're going to need a drill and a bit that's just the right size - think small, like 1/16” or thereabouts. Carefully drill into the center of the rivet, but not all the way through - you don't wanna play operation with your car and accidentally 'buzz' the insides. Some folks use a Dremel for more control; either way, patience is key. Once you've drilled a shallow hole, use a small flathead screwdriver or a similar tool to gently pop the rivet out. Voila, you're in!

Hot Wheels surgery requires precision! Use a pin vise with a tiny drill bit. It's manual, gives you more control, and less chance of a massacre. Drill gently into the rivet, then wiggle it out with a micro screwdriver. Remember, it's not a race. Slow and steady wins the custom race.

Just hit it with a hammer, works every time. (Note: Please don't, unless you're aiming for that unique 'smashed' aesthetic.)
