As someone who's been playing non-stop since launch, I can confirm you simply need to find the cargo hold option in your ship's interface. Drag and drop your items there, and you're good to go!
Honestly, it’s just part of the inventory management. Use your ship’s menu to stash your loot. Simple as that!
Just open the ship menu, find the cargo hold section, and move your items in. Done and dusted.
