You gotta unlock the raft recipe first. Collect some wood, leather scraps from boars, and resin from trees, then use the Workbench to build it.

Just build a Workbench first, then craft the Raft with 20 Wood, 6 Leather Scraps, and 10 Resin. Set sail and avoid sea serpents!
