Easy peasy! Go to the Facebook Messenger app, tap your profile picture, then 'Account Settings.' From there, select 'Download Your Information' and follow the steps. Your messages will be included in the download!
I once thought my messages were lost, but checking my email's connected with Facebook had some old notifications I could reference.
If you deleted the messages, bad news: they're gone for good. Facebook doesn't offer a way to recover deleted messages. Better luck next time!
