Don't release your Pals! You'll regret it when you need them for that unexpected boss battle or to craft something super rare.
I released a Pal once... it was a sad moment. But yeah, just select them in the inventory and you'll see the option. It's easy.
Just click on the pal and hit release. But why would you? They're all so cute!
