Why bother removing it? Just replace it with a new one! ;) Click 'Update Cover Photo,' and upload a new masterpiece.
You can't actually remove it completely; it'll just replace with the default cover photo. Go to your profile, click on the cover photo, and select 'Remove'.
Just hover over your cover photo, click 'Update Cover Photo,' then choose 'Remove.' Done and dusted!
