Quick fix: exit TF2, then restart Steam entirely before launching the game again. Sometimes Steam needs a little reset too!

Just quit the game and reopen it! Easiest way is to hit Alt+F4 to close the game and then start it up again through Steam.

If you're on a Steam Deck, hold down the power button until you see the option to restart the game. Works like a charm!
