From personal experience, this is easy. Find their profile, click 'Friends,' choose 'Take a Break,' and reset your preferences.
Just unfriend them. Problem solved.
To reverse 'Take a Break' on Facebook, just go to the profile of the person you took a break from. Click the 'Friends' button and then select 'Take a Break' again. Adjust the settings back to normal!
