Just board 'em and strip 'em for parts! Easy peasy.
To salvage ships in Starfield, you'll need to find wrecked or abandoned ships during your space adventures. Once you locate one, dock with it, and enter to see what valuable components and resources you can strip from the ship! It's an awesome way to gather materials for upgrades!
In my adventures, I found that once you spot a ship in distress or abandoned, simply dock and start salvaging. Make sure to grab all parts for future upgrades!
