Open the Instagram camera, swipe through effects until you reach the end, and click 'Browse Effects.' From there, search for whatever catches your eye!
You can also check out effects on your friends' Stories or Reels and click on the effect name to try it yourself. Easy peasy!
Click the smiley face icon when creating a story, then hit 'Browse Effects' and use the search bar. Simple as that.
