You can search messages on Instagram by going to your Direct Messages and using the search bar at the top to type in keywords or usernames. Trust me, it's a lifesaver when you're trying to find that one message from months ago!
You don't. Instagram doesn't have a fully-functional message search. Let's hope they add it soon!
