Simple! Just visit the profile, hit the three dots, and check 'About This Account' for their username history.

I've done this many times! Go to the person's profile, tap on the three dots, select 'About This Account' and you’ll see their past usernames.
Good luck finding old usernames if the profile is private. No way around that!
