First, open the Xbox guide, find the player under 'People' tab, and then select 'Add Friend' from there. Simple as that!

Hit the menu button on your controller, go to 'Friends' tab in War Thunder, and find your buddy there to send a request!

Just go through the in-game War Thunder friends menu, search their in-game name, and hit 'Add Friend'. Works every time for me.

Open War Thunder, navigate to your profile, then use the social tab to enter the player's name and send the request. Easy peasy.
