You can't actually sleep in State of Decay 2. Your characters rest automatically when you switch to another survivor.

From a long-time player here: There is no manual sleep function, but don't worry, your characters take care of their own rest when needed.

If you're looking to pass time quickly, unfortunately, sleeping isn't an option. You have to keep scavenging and surviving!
