If you're in the Snowdin area with the door that won't open, you have to defeat all the bosses and complete the True Pacifist Route to get it to open. The door leads to a secret developer room. Good luck!
Ah, the infamous door puzzle! For the Ruins door puzzle (the one with the four switches), just press the switches in the order Toriel suggests: stay on the path and press the bottom-left, top-right, top-left, and bottom-right switches. You're golden!
Honestly, most of the puzzles in Undertale are easier if you just follow the path and pay attention to the hints given by the characters. Trust the NPCs!
