Easy peasy! Just go to their profile, click the three dots in the top right corner, and select 'Remove Follower'. Boom, they're gone!
I’ve had to do this a few times myself. Just find them in your followers list, click the three dots next to their name, and hit 'Remove'. It's that simple.
