You gotta grind for those Enhancement Materials in Story Mode or Event Quests, then use them in the Gear menu to buff your equipment.
First-hand tip: farming Event Quests has given me crazy enhancement materials. Use those to upgrade your gear through the Gear menu, and you'll see the results!
Easy peasy! Just head on over to the Gear menu, select the equipment you want to boost, and use Enhancement Materials. Bam! Stronger gear!
