Honestly, just use the quick menu to switch. It's not rocket science!
Switching weapons in Starfield is pretty straightforward. Just open up your quick menu by pressing the D-pad on your controller, or the number keys on your keyboard, then select the weapon you want. Easy peasy!
From my own experience, keeping my best weapons hot-keyed made it super easy to switch weapons on the fly. Saved my skin more than once!
