Gotta check 'em all, but if the copyright date's not cutting it for you, try comparing your card to a database or a catalog online. Websites like Bulbapedia or the official Pokémon TCG website have exhaustive lists that can help you match your card's details (artwork, expansion symbol, etc.) to its release date.

Flip that card over! The easiest way to tell how old your Pokémon card is would be to check the bottom of the card. Look for a small print that usually includes the copyright year. This is typically the release year of the card or the set it belongs to.

If it looks like it survived a battle IRL, it's probably old. But seriously, older cards tend to have a different card texture and coloration compared to the new ones. Not a precise science, but it's a hint!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
