Honestly, the easiest way? Look for typos. Fakes often have misspellings or weird grammar in the card text. Caught a few fakes this way myself!

First off, check the card's coloring and artwork - if it looks off or too faded, you might have a fake on your hands. Real pokemon cards have vibrant colors and detailed art. Then, feel the texture. Authentic cards have a specific smooth yet slightly rough texture, while fakes tend to be either too glossy or too rough. Don't forget the light test: hold the card up to a light source; if it's almost completely opaque, it's likely real. And the most telling sign? The weight! Real cards have a specific weight to them due to the quality of paper used. Weigh it against a known real card for comparison.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
