Just pop the box open and see if the Pop has any unique features like metallic paint, glow-in-the-dark parts, or an unusual pose. Those special editions are usually made in smaller batches, making them rarer. Also, if you've never seen it before and can't find much about it online, it's probably rare.
The real rare ones are the Funko Pops from the early days before they blew up. If it's from 2010 or earlier, you've probably got a gem on your hands. Vintage is where it's at.
