Real talk, I've been collecting since the '90s, and I've seen my share of fakes. Besides the 'Edition 1' logo, the quality of the print and the texture of the card can also give clues. Counterfeits tend to have a different feel and less sharp printing. Get familiar with legit cards, and you'll start to notice the differences.

Spotting a first edition Pokemon card is all about the tiny details. Look for the 'Edition 1' symbol, which is typically found directly below the card's image on the left side. It's a small, black circle with the number '1' inside surrounded by a 'E'. This symbol is your golden ticket to identifying a first edition card. Also, remember that not all sets include first edition cards, so check which sets these were released in!

Short version: First edition Pokemon cards have a 'Edition 1' symbol below the image. If it ain't there, it ain't first edition. Simple!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
