To unlock characters in Super Smash Bros Brawl on Wii U, you usually have to play through the Subspace Emissary (adventure mode) or complete specific challenges. Each character has unique requirements, like playing a certain number of matches or beating Classic Mode with certain conditions. Look up a complete list online for specific unlock methods.

Honestly, just play the Subspace Emissary mode. Nearly every character unlocks as you progress through it. It's fun and you get to see some epic cutscenes too!

Easiest way to unlock everyone? Just keep playing matches! After a certain number of games, characters will start challenging you. Beat them to add to your roster.
